How to use the list
The list starts with documents and money because those are the things you cannot replace on the road. Clothes quantities assume you can do a quick wash every week, so a three-week trip packs the same as a one-week trip. Add trip types together: a monsoon visit to Alappuzha is "Beach" plus "Rain"; a visit to Machu Picchu with a trek is "Heritage" plus "Hiking".
Three rules that save trips
- Keep documents in two places. Store scans offline on your phone and a printed copy in a different bag.
- Check the site's own rules. Some landmarks restrict bag sizes, tripods, food or drones. Each destination guide links the official rules.
- Pack for the month, not the country. The best time to visit planner shows when to expect heat, rain or cold.
